Jimi Hendrix & The Star-Spangled Banner

Jimi Hendrix changed Rock ‘n Roll when he played his rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner as he closed Woodstock. This 8-minute film, part of the “Louder than Words: Rock, Power, and Politics” exhibit, recounts Jimi Hendrix’s performance of the national anthem at Woodstock and its effect given the political and musical climate of the time. Featuring interviews with Woodstock organizer Michael Lang, musicians/activists Bono and Tom Morello, and Hendrix’s percussionist Juma Sultan among others.
